Upload Directory

We need to be able to have the upload directory be moved out of the Joomla Root and into another directory on the server. Basically the files are currently being uploaded here:

http://somedomain.com/images

so instead of the /images directory we need to tell the upload to do this..

../../ftplocation

So we need to back up 2 directory trees. Is this possible? I tried to alter the XML file for the default folder of images to ../../ftplocation and it didnt work.

@mlux. It is not designed to work outside of the joomla root.

To get it to work, you will have to custom edit the PHP code to get that working. Are you proficient with PHP?

Not proficient enough. I was hoping there would be some way of doing it with virtual directories but I don’t think i have enough server access to do this. This is a Control Panel hosting environment, and I cannot find any way to do this or to edit the config file…

What edits would need to be done to have the system post to another FTP server? The Joomla site is on one server and we would like the file uploader to upload to a different FTP server.
