My site was hacked two times and I thought it may be related to the uploader.

I tried to install the latest version with no success.

    Database Version: 5.1.59-log

    Database Collation: utf8_general_ci

    PHP Version: 5.3.8

    Web Server: Apache/2.2.3 (CloudLinux)

Web Server to PHP interface: cgi-fcgi

Joomla! Version: Joomla! 1.5.25 Stable [ senu takaa ama mamni ] 14-November-2011 18:00 GMT

I did unzip and tried several times…

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Robert. Thanks for posting. What version of Easy File Uploader did you have installed before? Also, Are you getting an error during installation? If so, could you post a link to the screenshot?

If you have joomla 1.5, then you should download Easy File Uploader v1.1.

I tried the link to V1.1 and this error msg appeared.

Do I have to delete the old version first? I disabled it…

Module Install: Another module is already using directory: “/mnt/data/vhosts/propostersandprints.com/httpdocs/modules/mod_easyfileuploader”

@Robert. First, you should uninstall any existing version if you are going to install a new version. That’s why you are getting an error. Second, to see what version you have go to Extensions -> Insta//Uninstall -> Modules

@Robert. With the default settings, and a PHP version 5.3+, there is no security issue with version 0.6 or greater. However, if you disable the security by specifying an asterisk as the permitted mime type, then any file will be allowed. Also, you should never allow public, guest, users to upload files to your site. Only registered, trusted, users should have access to an uploader (any uploader).
