    Hi,

Having a frustrating time and can no longer think straight enough!

    I’m running:

Easy File Uploader – Version 2.0

    Joomla 1.5.26

    PHP Version 5.3.10

When trying to upload a .docx file I get this returned: “ERROR: The uploaded file type (application/zip)is not permitted.”

Having searched the forum I’ve installed and run test_script4.php and it has identified that I cannot upload .docx files as the mime type is “application/zip”. However, this mime type is included in the ‘permitted file types’ in the module.

I have tried removing all permitted types and then adding just “application/zip” back but no joy with .docx although I can upload ‘proper’ .zip files!

Using ‘application/msword’ works fine for .doc but not for .docx.

    Any ideas?

@DesignM8. Thanks for posting. I understand your frustration.

I believe that the issue may be with your web server. It seems as though your server does not know how to interpret the mime types for Office 2007+ files such as docx, xlsx, etc. There are different solutions of how to fix this on the web. The best thing is to do a google search on “docx mime as zip”. To get you started on a solution, I found the following link. That link shows how to add the functionality via a .htaccess file. I am not a .htaccess expert, and I cna’t advise you further, but I know that the issue definitely is your web server not knowing how to interpret the mime of the Office files properly.

Let me know if this helps. I am more than happy to assist you further.
